Expired Role

Garment Technician

Why You Will Be Excited About This Role

Pioneer a new chapter in your career as the founding Garment Technician at a growing contemporary fashion brand committed to redefining style through quality, sustainability, and effortless design. In this newly created role, you’ll have the rare opportunity to build and shape a critical function from the ground up, establishing technical standards that will define the brand’s signature fit and finish for years to come.

Your first year will be transformative as you partner directly with designers to bring their creative vision to life while implementing foundational technical systems. You’ll lead a comprehensive brand-wide fit review project that will enhance the customer experience and strengthen the brand’s reputation for premium quality and consistency.

  • Create your own technical legacy by establishing standards, processes, and systems that will guide the brand’s future
  • Build and mentor a team of junior technicians, developing the next generation of technical talent
  • Directly influence how sustainability principles are integrated into technical specifications and production methods
  • Establish yourself as a key decision-maker at the intersection of design creativity and technical excellence

Why You Will Like Working Here

You’ll thrive in this Australian fashion label that combines the personal touch of a boutique brand with ambitious global growth plans. Your expertise will be valued at the highest levels, with direct access to founders and leadership who genuinely respect technical craftsmanship.

Your contributions will be integral to a sustainable fashion journey, allowing you to align your career with your values. You’ll experience a culture that balances commercial success with environmental responsibility, creating fashion that looks good and does good.

  • Celebrate your birthday with a paid day off!
  • Refresh your wardrobe with a generous 50% discount on our products
  • Enjoy quarterly product allowances to experience the quality of what you help create
  • Benefit from a flexible hybrid work arrangement
  • Be part of a brand that’s committed to sustainable manufacturing practices and ethical production

What You Will Be Working On

As a Garment Technician, you’ll be the technical cornerstone of a design team, ensuring that their commitment to quality and sustainability translates into every garment we produce. You’ll spearhead the development of detailed tech packs that honor the designer’s creative vision while establishing the technical foundation for exceptional fit, construction, and workmanship. Rather than maintaining existing systems, you’ll create new ones – developing garment blocks, refining grading systems, and implementing quality control standards that align with our sustainability commitments.

Your leadership will be crucial in fit sessions, where you’ll provide expert technical guidance that optimises resources while maintaining exacting standards. You’ll collaborate closely with suppliers globally, ensuring that dedication to sustainable manufacturing practices are maintained throughout the production process.

Most significantly, you’ll lead a comprehensive fit review project that will standardise sizing across all product categories, creating a consistent fit experience that customers can trust and that minimises waste through returns.

What Type Of Person Will Be Successful

You’re a technical fashion expert who finds deep satisfaction in the perfect execution of a garment. You combine meticulous attention to detail with a strategic mindset that sees how technical decisions impact brand reputation and sustainability goals.

  • 4-5+ years’ experience in a similar technical role, with a passion for contemporary fashion
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, grading systems, and fit processes
  • Experience with or interest in sustainable manufacturing practices
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical requirements to both creative teams and production partners
  • Natural leadership abilities with the potential to build and mentor a technical team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Illustrator
