Assembly Talent
New Role
Womenswear Designer
About this role
Your Next Chapter
This is your chance to own the design direction of key categories at one of Australia's fastest growing e-commerce fashion brands. Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the founders, you'll take product from concept through fit to bulk in a fast drop cycle, with real influence over fabrication, trend direction and how the range evolves. The brand has named this one of its most important hires of 2026, so your work will shape what comes next.
Good Company
You'll join a Melbourne fashion brand that drops new collections every two weeks, with a fast-growing customer base across Australia and the US. Positioned between fast fashion and premium, it's building a go-to label for women aged 18 to 30. The team is small, warm and high-performing, the pace is quick, and the culture is genuinely entrepreneurial. You'd be helping build a brand that lasts, not just filling a range plan.
What You'll Own
– Owning the creative direction of your categories while keeping cohesion across the wider range
– Designing sketches, specs and tech packs for new styles, from concept through fit to bulk
– Conducting seasonal trend forecasting and global market research across runway, social and street style
– Sourcing new base cloths, yarns, trims and hardware in line with trend direction
– Collaborating with the garment technician and offshore suppliers throughout the fitting process
– Approving lab dips, fabrics and trims to maintain brand standards
– Analysing sales data to evolve, repeat and update best sellers
– Consolidating fabrics and exploring new mills to lift the range while protecting margin
– Driving creative projects such as sustainability in design, capsules and collaborations
Who Thrives Here
– 3+ years in a fashion or apparel design role, ideally womenswear within e-commerce or vertical retail
– Proven experience owning category design direction end to end
– Strong technical skills across sketching, tech packs and specs, including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
– Solid knowledge of fabrications, trims, lab dips and supplier development
– Commercially sharp, comfortable using sales data, margin targets and price tiering to inform design decisions
– Highly organised across multiple categories in a fast drop cycle, with an obsessive eye for specs, fits and finishes
– Someone who enjoys a fast-moving, founder-led environment where processes are still being built
